Admission Requirements
The following requirements must be fulfilled to get admitted to Medicine Hat College:
- International students are considered on case-by-case basis. There can be some additional requirements, depending on the program you are applying to.
- Students are required to submit their original transcripts from their last attended academic institutions. If they are not in English, then submit the translated copies of the same along with the originals.
- Should provide the certificate issued by the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) that compares educational credentials from other countries to educational standards in Canada.
- Applicants must be 18 years old at the time of the beginning of the course.
- You need to submit your English language proficiency test scores if you are coming from a non-English speaking country.
Please note:- If you are not a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, you must obtain a valid study permit before you come to Canada.

Accomodation
Medicine Hat Residence
Fun, friendly and affordable - living in residence will help you make the most of your MHC experience. Our on-campus housing is among the lowest priced in Alberta and consists of 75 well-maintained townhouse units, only a few minutes walking distance from the college. Each unit can accommodate four single students and offers beautiful golf course or coulee views. Two bungalow-style units can accommodate up to two students each with mobility impairments.
All of our full-furnished units offer the following amenities:
- Air-conditioning
- WiFi (included in rent fees)
- Washer & dryer (coin free)
- Stove and microwave
- Fridge and freezer
- Extra long single beds
- Study desk, office chair, couch, chairs, lamp, kitchen table with chairs
- Utilities
- Vacuum
Both residence complexes have access to our Community Room, which offers a computer lab with Internet access, TV room equipped with DVD and high-fi surround sound. Please note that pets are not allowed in the Medicine Hat College residences. Not sure what to bring? Check here for a full list.
Off-Campus Housing
The Student Residence Office compiles a list of off-campus housing. Medicine Hat College accepts listings of accommodations from landlords for our students' convenience but does not check the accommodations listed in any way and takes no responsibility for the actions of any landlord who advertises on this list, or for the condition of the rental accommodations listed. Selection of off-campus accommodations and rental agreements are the sole responsibility of the student renter. View Off Campus Housing List.
Homestay
Living with a Canadian family is a great way for international students to learn the language and the culture of Canada. Host families are given a unique opportunity to learn about another culture and to help a student learn about Canada and improve their English.
Homestay with a Canadian family includes:
- A private bedroom
- A desk or table at which to study
- Three healthy meals a day (at least one prepared), seven days a week
- English conversation and family interaction
- High speed internet access
- Airport pick-up where possible (from Medicine Hat airport only)
Note: Homestay fees are paid by the student directly to the family and not to Medicine Hat College. All fees are subject to change.
