Overview

We have been one of Australia's pioneering universities for more than 50 years. In 1967, 552 students enrolled at La Trobe University, the third university to open in Victoria, which has grown to accommodate more than 36,000 students, with over 7,000 international students from 110 countries.

We now have a network of campuses, with over 28,000 students at our Melbourne Campus and over 7,500 at our campuses in Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Mildura, Melbourne City (Collins Street), Shepparton and Sydney.

Melbourne Campus

Located in Bundoora, just 14 kilometers from the city, our Melbourne Campus offers a unique lifestyle. You’ll get to experience the fresh air and natural beauty of the Australian outdoors at the campus, which is set in beautiful native bushland and even has its own wildlife sanctuary. At the same time, you’ll only be a tram ride away from all the attractions of inner-city Melbourne.

You can study a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in arts, social sciences, communications, business, education, health, IT, engineering, law and science at the Melbourne Campus. You’ll also have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including tech and business labs and the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science.

Admission Requirements

The following requirements must be fulfilled to get admitted to La Trobe University:

International students are considered on a case-by-case basis. There can be some additional requirements, depending on the program you are applying to.
Students are required to submit their original transcripts from their last attended academic institutions. If they are not in English, then submit the translated copies of the same along with the originals.
Financial support statement (original bank statement and sponsor letter).
Passport identification page with machine-readable code visible
Applicants must be 18 years old at the time of the beginning of the course.
You need to submit your English language proficiency test scores if you are coming from a non-English-speaking country.

All newly arriving international students are eligible to apply for the International Student Accommodation Grant to receive a 20% discount on weekly rent if they sign a contract to live on campus for a semester (22 weeks) or an academic year (44 weeks).

Academic eligibility: 70% or above in previous qualifications.

This scholarship will be applied as a discount to tuition fees for each subject studied for the entire duration of the course. Recipients are required to meet all conditions (if applicable) outlined in the Letter of Offer and accept the offer by paying the required deposit before the scholarship can be applied. Please note: Failure to meet condition(s) and pay the acceptance deposit on time may result in the withdrawal of the scholarship.

La Trobe University values academic excellence. High-achieving international students considering applying for an undergraduate or postgraduate course will be automatically considered for this scholarship.

The La Trobe High Achiever Scholarship rewards high achieving International students. This scholarship is worth between 15% to 25% off the annual tuition fees for the duration of studies.

International students applying for an undergraduate or postgraduate course to study at La Trobe University can be rewarded a bonus grant for completing their admission process early. Recipients will automatically be eligible to receive an Early Acceptance Grant of $2,000.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

Be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand and be applying to study in Summer semester 2025/Semester 1 2026. Deferrals from previous semesters are not eligible for this grant.
Not be a humanitarian or other permanent visa holder.
Be a full fee-paying student (non-sponsored).
Be applying for direct entry into one of the eligible courses. Other students are not eligible.
Commence their studies at any of the La Trobe University Victorian campuses or Sydney Campus in 2025/6.

Students who receive a Conditional Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) will be considered eligible for the grant.

This scholarship will be applied as a discount to the recipient’s tuition fees for each subject undertaken throughout the duration of their course. To receive the scholarship, the recipient must meet all conditions (if applicable) outlined in their La Trobe University Letter of Offer and formally accept the offer by paying the required deposit, as specified in the offer letter. This must be completed before the scholarship acceptance deadline. The scholarship value will be credited to the recipient’s tuition account starting from the second semester. Please note: Failure to pay the acceptance deposit by the specified deadline will result in the automatic cancellation of the scholarship.
