Admission Requirements

The following requirements must be fulfilled to get admitted to the Southampton Solent University

International students are considered on case-by-case basis. There can be some additional requirements, depending on the program you are applying to.
Students are required to submit their original transcripts from their last attended academic institutions. If they are not in English, then submit the translated copies of the same along with the originals.
Applicants must be 18 years old at the time of the beginning of the course.
You need to submit your English language proficiency test scores if you are coming from a non-English speaking country.

Career advice for life - Should you choose to enrol, career advice and support will continue throughout your time here and after you graduate. Solent Futures works with course teams, supporting the curriculum with employability to ensure you know what is possible with your degree. Throughout each year there are careers sessions from the Solent Futures team and from employers on topics like ‘Getting Started with LinkedIn’ and ‘How to succeed at Assessment Centres’ to support you to achieve your ambitions. These are always advertised on the Student Portal.

Accomodation

Student accommodation is more than just a roof over your head – the place you live can have a real impact on how well you settle into university life. With five halls of residence and established links with the private rental sector, our dedicated accommodation service are here to make sure that every Solent student is happy and safe within their home.

Guaranteed accommodation
We are able to offer guaranteed accommodation in Solent student residences to all applicants who confirm their place on a course before 31 August 2022. This includes limited numbers of rooms with en-suite and shared facilities - rooms are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Solent’s five student residences cater to a range of requirements and are great places to work, relax and meet new friends. The majority of University-owned accommodation is reserved for first-year students, but there are also provisions for returning students, postgraduates, officer cadets and summer students.

Those who would be more comfortable renting in the private sector are encouraged to use the Southampton Accreditation Scheme for Student Housing (SASSH). This scheme, a collaboration between the two local universities, helps ensure that any property you rent is safe and secure.

Students at Solent University have a range of options available when deciding where to live. Whether you want to live in student residences or private accommodation, these section will help you to arrange the perfect student living space.

Student residences

We have more than 1,200 single study-bedrooms spread across five residences, providing a mix of en-suite and non en-suite university accommodation.
The student residences are located in close proximity to each other, which gives the area a real student community feel. All the residences are self-catered and have fully equipped kitchens.
Located within walking distance of the campus and the city centre, there is no real need to bring a car - although there is parking available at all our student residences.

Private sector
Some students prefer a bit more independence and choose to rent in the private sector - either renting a property with friends or lodging with a resident landlord.

In partnership with the University of Southampton and Southampton City Council, we have compiled an accredited directory of private student accommodation in Southampton and the surrounding area, the scheme is called SASSH (Southampton Accreditation Scheme for Student Housing).
