Admission Requirements
The following requirements must be fulfilled to get admitted to Seneca Polytechnic:
- International students are considered on case-by-case basis. There can be some additional requirements, depending on the program you are applying to.
- Students are required to submit their original transcripts from their last attended academic institutions. If they are not in English, then submit the translated copies of the same along with the originals.
- Should provide the certificate issued by the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) that compares educational credentials from other countries to educational standards in Canada.
- Applicants must be 18 years old at the time of the beginning of the course.
- You need to submit your English language proficiency test scores if you are coming from a non-English speaking country.
Please note: If you are not a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, you must obtain a valid study permit before you come to Canada.

Homestay
Canada Homestay Network (CHN) manages homestay accommodations for international students at Seneca. Through a CHN homestay, students reside with an approved host and become integrated members of the family and community. Homestays are available for a minimum one-month period.
All accommodations include, at a minimum:
- a furnished room with a window
- a bed with clean linen (sheets, pillow, and blankets)
- private storage for your belongings (such as a chest of drawers or a closet)
- access to a shared bathroom with your own clean towels
- a quiet place to study, usually in your own room

- Academic Pathways - The Academic Pathways team provides a number of services to help students to continue their education at Seneca or other institutions, including research and application assistance, information sessions, advisement appointments and events.
- Accessible Learning Services - If you have a disability that might affect your learning, we’re here to support you. With appropriate documentation, we can help with academic accommodations, adaptive technologies and learning specific skills that will help you engage fully in your program at Seneca.
- First Peoples@Seneca - First Peoples@Seneca is dedicated to supporting Indigenous students (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) on our campuses. Services include advisement, tutoring, mentoring, workshops, cultural teachings and social events. These services are offered in a culturally appropriate way to create understandings and learnings about Indigenous peoples.
- International Student Services - Our international student services is here to help you easily transition to life at Seneca. - Learning Support - For those who need help with their courses, our Learning Centres provide various approaches to learning support, including workshops, tutoring, one-on-one sessions, exam preparation and online learning supports. - Personal Counselling - Counselling is available for students who might be dealing with a variety of personal problems. The demands of school can feel overwhelming and there are times when unexpected events happen in our lives. Counsellors are here to help you through life’s difficult moments.
- Seneca Libraries - Seneca Libraries offer resources and services online and on-campus to enhance the academic interests of our students, faculty and staff. Our digital collection of databases, books, magazines, journals and videos are tailored to your learning, research and recreational interests. Seneca Libraries also host Seneca Archives, a repository and research space that holds historical resources, that is open to the Seneca community and public. Our website is designed to provide program-specific assistance through eLearning resources such as Mylearning and Lynda.com, which cover topics from essay writing to learning computer programs. Our on-site facilities offer study spaces, digital media spaces such as Sandbox, research support and additional assistance.
- Seneca Works - Seneca Works supports students with career planning throughout their academic studies as we believe that the career development journey starts from the moment you arrive at Seneca. We help prepare you for success in today’s workforce by connecting students and graduates with employers. Through one-on-one resumé critiques, interview preparation, employer on-site interviews, career fairs, plus a job bank of 16,000+ organizations posting 7,000+ jobs per year, we help you reach your career goals. Scholarships
Awards, Scholarships and Bursaries
Seneca offers various scholarships, bursaries and other awards based on both academic achievement and financial need. The values of the awards range from $50 to $5,000.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for an award, scholarship or bursary, you must be a Seneca student.
You must also meet the specific eligibility requirements outlined for each award. For example, scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement. This means that you must meet the minimum grade requirement to be eligible for the award.
Bursaries are awarded based on financial need. This means that you must meet the requirements for the specific bursary program to be eligible. In addition, there are some awards that are open to all students, while some are offered only to students in specific programs.
Available programs
$2,000 Entrance Scholarship for International Students in Canada
Come to – or stay at – Seneca Polytechnic and get a $2,000 entrance scholarship when you start a new program in January 2025 or May 2025.
And as a bonus, we will waive your application fee.
Am I eligible?
You are eligible for the entrance scholarship if you are in Canada with a valid study permit or Letter of Introduction (LOI) at the time of application and are applying to a full-time Seneca Polytechnic program, starting in January 2025 or May 2025.
You are also eligible if you are an international student who is:
- currently studying in Canada and interested in a second program or starting bundled programs
- obtaining or in the process of obtaining your Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- currently studying in Canada in an eligible English pathway program
- currently studying at Seneca and applying for a new program
Is my program eligible?
- The entrance scholarship is valid for all full-time postsecondary programs that start in January 2025 or May 2025
How do I start?
You automatically qualify for this entrance scholarship if you meet the eligibility criteria.
Here is what you need to do:
- Apply to a full-time program at Seneca through our International Web Application on or after July 15, 2024 – we will waive your application fee
- Upload a valid study permit or Letter of Introduction (LOI) at the time of application
- Confirm your offer of admission and you will receive a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from Seneca
- Pay your fees by the due date in the fee notice to secure your spot
- Complete any remaining steps to enrol at Seneca
How do I get the scholarship?
You will receive the $2,000 entrance scholarship and prioritized admission when you start a new program at Seneca.
The entrance scholarship will be deposited directly to your Student Home account after Day 10 of the term.
- This is a limited time offer only for applications received on or after July 15, 2024 and is not retroactive
- If you are applying to a Bundled Program or second program, the scholarship will be awarded for each new program
- No cash alternative or substitution will be provided
