Overview

Ontario Tech University, popularly referred to as the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), established in 2002, is a public research university located in Oshawa, Ontario. The main campus location of Ontario Tech University is co-located with Durham College on approximately 400 acres (160 ha) of land in the Northern Oshawa. It has recently also established a downtown Oshawa location and has added new classrooms, labs, study areas and state-of-the-art learning facilities at the north Oshawa location. 


Ontario Tech University houses more than 70 specialized research laboratories and facilities and is one of Canada's Newest Research Universities and has 1,548 faculty and staff members. The faculty experts engage with more than 300 industry partners to develop unique market-driven programs that incorporate: Program-specific and industry-current software and Practical, hands-on experience in a real-world setting.


At OTU almost 96% of programs incorporate experiential learning and allow students to explore their interests as well as get a hang of the ways of the professional world. The university offers a vast array of bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programs. Areas of study include business, education, energy systems and nuclear science, engineering, health sciences, humanities, information technology, science, and social science. Apart from academic and career related services, students also enjoy a stimulating campus life experience that includes a variety of clubs, cultural and community events, recreational opportunities and a growing varsity athletics program featuring basketball, badminton, curling, dance, golf, hockey, rowing, soccer, and women’s lacrosse.
