Opportunities
Career
Selkirk College is committed to providing a stimulating, rewarding and supportive work environment so that we can continue to inspire lifelong learning through education and training. We value every employee at Selkirk College as they are each essential to the success of our learners and our college.
Accomodation
Student Housing
Enhance your college experience—live in student housing! We have housing options at our Castlegar Campus and our Tenth Street Campus in Nelson. Student housing is located within a five-minute walk to classes, athletic facilities, libraries, dining facilities and outdoor recreation.
We are committed to providing a safe and accessible environment that reduces barriers to education. If you have accessibility needs or a documented disability, we encourage you to make an appointment with Accessibility Services by calling the Welcome Centre as soon as possible to allow sufficient time to establish and implement supports and/or accommodations.
Off-Campus Housing
There are a variety of options for students to find housing off-campus!
- The housing market in the Kootenay and Boundary regions is very competitive. Make sure to have your contact and housing references ready before making any housing inquiries. Landlords may ask personal questions, such as if you have a job and or where you attend school.
- Move-in dates are normally the first day of each month. Tenants normally must tell their landlord one month before they are planning on moving out.
- Landlords will typically ask new tenants to pay a damage deposit. This fee is usually half the cost of one month's rent and will be returned upon moving out, providing that the rented unit is in the same condition as when you moved in.
- Double-check which campus your program is located on. Although applications such as Google Maps will give you an estimated travel length, weather across the four seasons can dramatically impact the length of a commute. Make sure to give yourself more than enough time to drive to your destination.
