Overview
Founded in 1965, Golden West College is included in the California Community College system. It is home to over 10,000 students representing 36 countries. The college is esteemed for its academic excellence, innovation and learning-centred programs. To ensure this, it continues to raise its standards by setting high expectations from its faculty, staff and students and other members of the community.
The college offers a variety of academic and career programs. It provides an Associate Degree in most subjects, an excellent university transfer program, in addition to a wide variety of short-term vocational options. The courses prepare students for entry to a university of their choice and equip them with advanced knowledge and skills essential for successful employment.
The college provides state-of-the-art facilities for students to incorporate their activities into meaningful learning. It has an Academic Success Centre with free resources to help students thrive in their classes, including writing assistance, math assistance, peer tutoring and workshops. It has a STEM centre where students can study independently, engage in study groups and interact with highly accommodating STEM faculty and staff. Students can also engage in STEM-related research and internship programs at local universities, as well as at public and private industry partners. Various activities and events like sports, intercultural events and club activities will help them socialise with other students and have the chance to build their network.
The college campus is in Huntington Beach, known as Surf City, USA. It is a suburban area that offers tranquillity and safety near the excitement of a city centre. It has miles of beautiful beaches and a sunny and warm Southern California climate. Its comfortable, welcoming, culturally diverse and vibrant community will make students feel at home. The city also offers excellent dining, shopping and entertainment options.

Admission Requirements
The following requirements must be fulfilled to get admitted to Golden West College
- International students are considered on a case-by-case basis. There can be some additional requirements, depending on the program you are applying to.
- Students are required to submit their original transcripts from their last attended academic institutions. If they are not in English, then submit the translated copies of the same along with the originals.
- Financial support statement (original bank statement and sponsor letter).
- Passport identification page with machine-readable code visible
- Applicants must be 18 years old at the time of the beginning of the course.
- You need to submit your English language proficiency test scores if you are coming from a non-English speaking country.

Currently GWC does not provide on-campus housing, but there are several options available for long-term and short-term housing near the school for you to choose from. Homestay Program
Homestay is a great option for international students interested in living with a local family during their stay in Huntington Beach. Choosing homestay allows students the opportunity to practice English, participate in the daily life of a family, share meals at home, and to make new friends. There are many homestay families close to campus who look forward to welcoming you and helping you get the most out of your experience studying in the U.S.
