Accomodation
Whether you want to live in student residences or a private rental, there’s a student accommodation option for you in Dublin. This guide will help you find the best space for you.
Dublin is a thriving city with a growing student population. Due to NCI’s central location, there is a range of student accommodation options for anyone moving to Dublin.
Full-time students, whether joining NCI through the CAO or as an international student, have many options when it comes to their living arrangements including:
- Student accommodation
- Private rentals
- Home stays
Accommodation for International Students
Your college years are often the most exciting of your life - and where you choose to live can have a big impact on your time in Dublin. Your biggest monthly expense will be for accommodation, and we estimate you should budget for the following:
- Student residence accommodation: average of €200 - €400 per week (private room), €110 - €200 (shared room)
- 2-Bed apartment in Dublin: average of €2000 - €2600 per month
- Private room: average of €600 - €1200 per month
- Studio: average €1200 - €1800 per month
- Shared room: average of €400 - €600 per person per month
NCI does not own or manage a student residence, nor do we offer an accommodation placement service. That means you are responsible for finding your own accommodation in Dublin.
There are many student residences around the city, as well as house and flat shares, homestays etc. We have compiled information on different accommodation options available to you to help you choose which suits you best.
Student Residence Accommodation
- One of the biggest decisions you will have to make is where you would like to live in Dublin. We highly recommend booking Student Residences and to apply early and to multiple locations.
- Student Residence accommodation is purpose built student accommodation and is the only long-term accommodation you can book in advance of your arrival to Dublin. This saves you valuable time, as you don't need to search for accommodation when you arrive. Most of the residential options are fairly new and purpose-built properties all around Dublin city. Some options are within walking distance of NCI, others are well connected by public transport.
Privately Rented Accommodation
- Looking for private accommodation can be a time-consuming and stressful task. To make your search a little less daunting please read the following information.
- The main thing you must consider is that you cannot book private accommodation from abroad. You must be in Ireland to arrange non-student accommodation; otherwise you are an easy target for accommodation scams. We recommend you book several weeks of temporary accommodation before your arrival to Dublin. Once you are in Dublin you can arrange viewings for properties you are interested in renting.
Homestay
- Moving away from your country and family home can be a big transition for some students. Staying with a host family is a good way of having some home comforts while you adjust to life in Ireland.
- Some students stay with a host family for a few weeks while they search for long-term accommodation and some students decide to stay for the duration of their studies.
- Whatever you decide there are a number of companies that can connect you with families.
