Overview
Founded in 1838, Acadia University is one of the oldest and most respected liberal arts universities in Canada. Located just a one-hour drive from Halifax, Nova Scotia and its international airport, Acadia is an integral part of the quintessential college town of Wolfville, overlooking the Annapolis Valley and the Bay of Fundy.
Acadia’s 3,574 students come from nearly every province and nearly 60 countries to take advantage of our strong academic programs, a curriculum that encourages personal development, and collaborative learning experiences led by award-winning professors.
Students are encouraged to become part of a scholarly community that encourages and inspires them. Community engagement, real-world opportunities, and meaningful research at the undergraduate level are pillars of an Acadia education. The University recognizes that learning means living every moment in and out of class. Working closely with their professors is something that can be transformative for both our faculty and students, and often results in lifelong friendships.
In addition to the academic experience, co-curricular and campus life programs enhance learning opportunities and help students develop teamwork and leadership skills. Acadia has a long tradition of respecting diversity. Each member of the community has different experiences to share, enriching classroom and casual interactions.
Our liberal arts curriculum, combined with the intangible Acadia spirit and sense of belonging, lays a strong foundation for our students’ future aspirations – travel, post-graduate study, careers, and family. An Acadia education helps our students grow and prepares them for life.

Accomodation
Residence, Meals & Housing
Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley is famous for its high quality orchards and vineyards. Everything grows here. And when you become part of Acadia’s stimulating campus community, the same thing will happen to you. You’ll blossom in a community that embraces and nourishes you.
Yes, we eat well at Acadia. All that fresh produce – some of it grown by students in our organic garden – makes its way to our award-winning chef’s kitchen and into the most amazing meal selection presented at any university dining hall. Whether you choose to live in residence or off-campus, you can purchase a meal plan that best suits your needs and your budget.
Most of our students choose to live on campus. With 11 residences to choose from – high-rise to heritage, double rooms to deluxe single suites – you’ll find the perfect fit for your personality. Plus, you’ll have over 1,500 potential friends from around the world within a few minutes walk. You’ll be in the centre of everything, including Acadia’s state-of-the-art labs and classrooms, Athletic Complex, and 50 acres of woodland trails.
Acadia is a close-knit community. On campus and in the town, everyone’s connected. You’ll rub shoulders with your profs in the dining hall and local shopkeepers will know you by name. Wolfville is the most diverse community in Nova Scotia, with great cafes and boutiques, pubs and bistros. If you choose to live off-campus, the town will welcome you. Wolfville respects and embraces Acadia students – the Homestay program is just one example.
Off-Campus Housing
Many Acadia students live within walking distance of our campus in the town of Wolfville. We encourage you to explore our resources for finding an apartment, expectations for living in the area, and your rights and responsibilities as a tenant.
Our Off-Campus Advisors are also available to support you from the start of your apartment search to offering advice on resolving issues. Advisors can:
- Meet with students who are experiencing concerns (roommate conflicts, personal issues, landlord and tenancy issues, etc.) and provide guidance and referrals to further resources.
- Advise students, clubs, and organizations requiring assistance with off-campus social events to ensure that these events comply with policies and town bylaws.
- Attend and review off campus houses/apartments as needed.
- Work collectively with campus and community partners on programming opportunities for students, and help market and promote these events.
