Butte College is a student-centred learning institution that delivers quality education and excellent support services designed to help students become productive and responsible members of an ever-changing, global society.

The College offers state-of-the-art facilities, small classes, low tuition and accessibility. 

Students at Butte College can earn associate’s degrees, train for career options or take general education classes and transfer to other universities. The College also offers degrees with guaranteed transfer to California State Universities.

It is a leader in sustainability among community colleges in the USA as it incorporates sustainability practices into its curriculum and promotes sustainable land use management, renewable energy and energy efficiency. Butte College is the first college to become “grid positive” in 2011, with a capacity to generate enough electricity from solar arrays to fully offset its electricity cost. It is home to 25,000 solar panels and has the ability to generate 6.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year or 4.5 megawatts DC – enough to power over 920 homes.

The Butte College main campus rests on a 928-acre designated wildlife refuge, making it one of the largest community college campuses in California. It has two other campuses in Chico and Glenn County Centre in Orland.
