Housing

On-campus living is part of the Pioneer journey—it’s where you’ll make friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. Staying up late, talking, studying and laughing. From traditional residence halls to suite-style units and apartments, Carroll has the perfect place for you to call home. All full-time students are required to live on campus until attaining senior status, with limited exceptions.*

*Students will still need an approved off-campus housing application if not normally exempt based on having 92 or more credits or are 23 years of age or older. For more information, view our Residency Requirement or email the Office of Residence Life and Housing with questions. 

Housing Options

Carroll offers thirteen residence hall options to suit a variety of needs and budgets, including undergraduate and graduate housing. Traditional halls typically serve as home to incoming and first-year students although they are available to all students as a living option. The exceptions are Steele and Swarthout Hall, which are only open to incoming students. Suite single halls are available for students who have achieved sophomore status or higher. Apartments are available to students who are juniors and seniors. Graduate housing is also available to graduate students in the Hartwell Apartments. 

Traditional Halls

Most first-year students reside in our traditional residence halls. Traditional halls feature a mix of single and double rooms, common area bathrooms/kitchens and tiled floors. Standard furnishings include XL twin bed frame and mattress, desk, chair, dresser, hutch and bookcase.

SUITE-STYLE HALLS

Suite-style halls include air-conditioned units recommended for students who have achieved sophomore status or higher. Suite double units offer two double-occupancy rooms joined by one common bathroom. Suite single units offer four or five-bedroom suites sharing a living room and two bathrooms. Standard furnishings include XL twin bed frame and mattress, desk, chair, dresser, hutch and bookcase. No common space furnishings are provided. The halls also feature common area study lounges.

Apartments

Campus apartments offer single, double and triple occupancy units. All apartments feature air conditioning, bathroom, living room, kitchen and standard residence hall bedroom furniture, including XL Twin bed frame and mattress, desk, chair and dresser. Some units feature a hutch and bookcase.

Inclusive Housing

Carroll University defines Inclusive Housing as an inclusive, voluntary housing option where students can share a designated suite with other students regardless of sex, gender identity or gender expression. It is not intended for romantic cohabitation. Students who choose this housing option will be expected to contribute positively to the community by respecting other members’ motivations for choosing this housing option and by abiding by all University regulations outlined in the Student Handbook. Students can indicate interest in Inclusive Housing as part of the on-campus housing application process.
