Overview
Welcome to the University of Charleston. We offer a unique opportunity for those who want an exceptional education in a smaller, private setting.
We are Charleston’s University not just because our riverfront location is directly across from the WV state capitol complex and the city of Charleston, but because UC students are welcomed as part of the community. Students can take advantage of all our location offers, including opportunities for internships and community service.
Our history is rich with interesting milestones (the campus buildings were literally ferried across the river to our current location in 1947, for example). Our mission is one of preparation for a lifetime of striving to do more and do better. And our leadership provides a strong vision for making UC the best it can be for its students, faculty and staff, and surrounding community.
Facilities & Venues
We offer a variety of options from which to choose, outstanding food and catering service, and a professional and supportive staff to make your event successful.
To schedule rooms and events on campus, or for additional information and availability, contact our catering staff at 304-357-4807.
Erma Byrd Gallery
The Erma Byrd Gallery is located on the third floor of Riggleman Hall, and is a perfect venue for weddings and other celebrations.
Over 150 original works of art, all by women with West Virginia roots, adorn the walls of this remarkable, oval room. Floor to ceiling windows provide a stunning view of the Kanawha River and the West Virginia State Capitol. The Gallery also can be used as a high-tech meeting space, with automatic shades, controlled lighting, and a large drop-down screen for video or PowerPoint presentations.

Opportunities
Career Development
Because we believe that learning occurs both in and outside the classroom, the Center for Career Development provides career guidance, internship assistance and professional networking opportunities for students as they move through their academic programs.
The CCD staff works with faculty members, alumni, employers and community leaders to generate high-quality opportunities for students. In turn, the CCD is committed to making the greater Charleston community a more vibrant and prosperous area by enabling UC students to become involved with local employers and organizations.
CCD provides assistance and resources to students and alumni in all aspects of career preparation. We serve as the link between our students and employers. We also help to connect members of the community to the University in a variety of ways.
