Overview

Fleming College, also known as the Sir Sanford Fleming College, was established in 1967. It is an open institute which was named after Sanford Fleming who was a well-known engineer and inventor. He is popular for the contributions he made to the concept of Universal Standard Time. The institute is associated with the Canadian Collegiate Athlete Association, ACCC, and Peterborough Centennial Museum & Archives. The institute introduced the College of Applied Arts and Technology in 1965. The college is managed and governed by the executive staff and a Board of Governors. Fleming College is known to be in partnership with Trent University.

Fleming College has more than 6,200 full-time and 10,000 part-time students, and 71,000 alumni. The academic structure of the college involves more than 100 full-time programs in Arts and Heritage, Business, Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, General Arts and Sciences, Health and Wellness, Justice and Community Development, Skilled Trades and Technology, and Continuing Education. The college is famous for its environment & natural sciences and social services. The variety of subjects gives students the opportunity to choose among the various courses as per their areas of interest.

The faculty members of the institute are experiences and provide ample knowledge to the students. The students are also exposed to practical workshops and industries. They also get a huge scope to go for the student exchange program. This allows students to learn about a different curriculum and gain exposure. In addition, the institute offers scholarship programs to students who have a good history of academic performance and co-curricular activities. This program is managed by the high authorities of the institute.

The institute comprises four campuses, namely Sutherland campus, Cobourg campus, Haliburton campus, and the Frost campus. Sutherland campus is the main campus which is located in Canada.

Admission Requirements

The following requirements must be fulfilled to get admitted to Fleming College:

International students are considered on a case-by-case basis. There can be some additional requirements, depending on the program you are applying to.
Students are required to submit their original transcripts from their last attended academic institutions. If they are not in English, then submit the translated copies of the same along with the originals.
Should provide the certificate issued by the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) that compares educational credentials from other countries to educational standards in Canada.
Applicants must be 18 years old at the time of the beginning of the course.
You need to submit your English language proficiency test scores if you are coming from a non-English speaking country.

Please note: If you are not a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, you must obtain a valid study permit before you come to Canada.

Fleming College offers great campus accommodations for its students which make them feel at home even if they’re thousands of miles away. Fleming College’s Peterborough and Lindsay campuses feature friendly staff, plenty of social activities and comfortable spaces to help students acclimate to college life. Suite-style rooms are equipped with single bedrooms, shared living room, kitchen and two bathrooms. On-site laundry is also available.

Off-Campus Housing

For over 30 years, landlords in our community have been providing, safe, secure, affordable accommodation to students living off-campus.

Homestay

Homestays are an integral system of housing for students. Students have the opportunity to avail homestay facilities as per their discretion and choices. All homestay accommodations have been inspected, and all adults in the home have completed a required criminal reference check.

Scholarships

Scholarships for International Students

Students applying to a Fleming certificate, diploma, advanced diploma or graduate certificate program for January 2026 or sooner can apply for these scholarships.

Scholarships are awarded based on availability.

Only those students who have been approved and received a scholarship confirmation letter will be eligible to receive the scholarship amount once they have enrolled in their program.
The award will be credited to your student account upon successful enrollment after Day 10 in first semester of the program. For The Americas Academic Excellence Entry Scholarship The award will be credited to your student account upon successful completion of the first semester and registration in the second semester at Fleming.

To continue receiving the scholarship in the following semester(s), the student needs to maintain a 3.9 GPA or above. The amount will be credited to the student account for the following semester after final grades of the previous semester have been posted. Note: Successful completion of Fleming’s English as a Second Language Bridge (ELB) program will meet the English language proficiency for Entry scholarships.	Up to $4,000 CAD $1,000 CAD per semester. East Asia (except the Philippines) Academic Excellence Entry Scholarship	Awarded to an international student from China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, or Singapore who has achieved the minimum English language proficiency requirements for their program as well as a GPA (Grade Point Average) of 75% or above from high school, college or university. Note: Successful completion of Fleming’s English as a Second Language Bridge (ELB) program will meet the English language proficiency for Entry scholarships.	$2,000 CAD
The Philippines Academic Excellence Entry Scholarship	Awarded to an international student from the Philippines who has achieved the minimum GPA (Grade Point Average) of 85% or above from high school, college or university. The scholarship will be awarded upon successful completion of the first semester and credited upon the registration in the second semester of the post-secondary program at Fleming, after Day 10. To continue receiving the scholarship in the following semester(s), the student needs to maintain a 3.9 GPA or above. Value: $750 CAD
South Asia Academic Excellence Entry Scholarship	Awarded to an international student from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Pakistan who has achieved the minimum English language proficiency requirements for their program as well as a GPA (Grade Point Average) of 75% or above from high school, college or university. Note: Successful completion of Fleming’s English as a Second Language Bridge (ELB) program will meet the English language proficiency for Entry scholarships.	$1,250 CAD
Rest of the World Academic Excellence Entry Scholarship	Awarded to an international student from a country other than those listed above who has achieved the minimum English language proficiency requirements for their program as well as a GPA (Grade Point Average) of 80% or above from high school, college or university. Note: Successful completion of Fleming’s English as a Second Language Bridge (ELB) program will meet the English language proficiency for Entry scholarships.	$1,250 CAD
Global English as A Second Language Bridge (ELB) Entry Scholarship	This scholarship can be combined with other Entry scholarships. Awarded to an international student who has successfully completed at least two levels of Fleming's English as a Second Language Bridge program (ELB) and has been accepted into a Fleming diploma or graduate certificate program. The scholarship will be awarded upon successful completion of the ELB program and credited upon the registration in the first semester of the post-secondary program at Fleming, after Day 10. **Note: Successful completion of Fleming’s English as a Second Language Bridge (ELB) program will meet the English language proficiency for Entry scholarships.	$1,000 CAD
