Program Overview

If you want to learn how to apply mathematics to solve real-world economic issues, this course is for you. You’ll gain a thorough grounding in the theories and techniques that underlie modern mathematics and economics, and you’ll explore the relationship between them.

You’ll learn from experts in both disciplines. Our mathematicians’ research is making a world-changing impact in diverse areas, ranging from smart materials and predicting floods to the behaviour of queues, social networks and infectious disease control. Our economists are world-renowned leaders in development economics, international trade, and environment and energy, and are shaping global policy.

The use of industry-standard software (such as MATLAB, Python and R) develops your analytical and modelling skills. You’ll graduate with the knowledge required to take your career in any direction you choose.

You’ll be guided throughout your degree by an academic adviser. We’ll support your career development with opportunities to engage with potential employers, while you develop the confidence and competence they’re looking for.
