The Fashion Design Program at Brenau offers the Fashion Design (B.F.A.) and provides students with the opportunity to develop their design skills with a thorough grounding in art and design foundations courses as well as in apparel construction and patterning. Experiences and study specific to the problem-solving associated with the design of garments, accessories and textiles are the focus of all upper-division work. Students may also elect to gain experience in historic clothing conservation and exhibition through work with the Brenau Historic and Folk Clothing and Textile Collections. A minor in fashion Fashion Design is also offered. Our program is designed to prepare our students for further study at the graduate level and/or positions in the apparel industry. Fashion or costume design, textile design, fashion entrepreneurship, wardrobe styling, product development and manufacturing are just a few of the possible areas of employment for our graduates. Course of Study In addition to the liberal education requirements, a degree in fashion design requires coursework in fashion design including two semester-long practicums and one semester-long internship.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
