Master of Science in Human Resource Management

Program Overview

On this course, you’ll learn about the key issues in human resource management (HRM). You’ll gain knowledge in employment relations, workplace behaviours and the practice of good people-management. You’ll explore:

  • Internal and external factors that give shape to complex HR ideas and practices. This includes firm strategy, market dynamics, national and supranational governance, demographic and technological trends, and political-ideological contexts
  • HR issues from the perspective of the strategy of an individual firm, and the external context of labour markets, employment relations and employment trends
  • Assessing and improving employee engagement, and evaluating the effectiveness of employee-engagement strategies
  • Financial and managerial aspects including turnover assessment, recruitment, retention, retirement, redundancy, dismissal, succession planning and talent management
  • The interplay between firm-level management practices and employee experiences including motivation, engagement, identity-formation, negotiation, participation and representation.

You’ll learn from nationally and internationally recognised scholars in a wide range of HRM areas. You’ll have the opportunity to take part in activities including CIPD conferences, employer visits and practitioner seminars.
