Program Overview

SOCIAL CARE

Please note: this course is for 2022/23 entry only

There is a growing need for well-trained, multi-skilled graduates able to respond to the changing demands within the Social Care employment and research sectors. As such the Social Care team recognise the great benefit of collaborating with service users, health and social care employers and stakeholders in this sector.

Curriculum content will develop students’ knowledge and understanding of Social Care through an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach. Students will be encouraged to develop a critical approach to a range of social care discourses.

The School has strong links with a range of individuals and organisations in the field who have expressed an ongoing commitment to working with us. The Social Care team build on these long-standing working relationships at all levels of the programme to embed a research informed, evidence-based practice approach to teaching and learning.

TOURISM

Tourism is one of the world’s largest industries and has become one of its biggest sources of employment. Our Tourism degree looks at tourism from both management and academic perspectives. It looks at issues such as the structure of the tourism industry; impacts of tourism on people and the environment; the emergence of new forms of tourism to rival the package holiday; tourism destination management and global tourism development.

We pay close attention to enhancing your student experience and facilitating effective student learning. You will be taught by a team of tutors with a wide range of practical and academic experience of Tourism. Tutors take pride in being available to students and offering a high level of support. Our degree curriculum embeds material which aims to not only provide an in-depth, up-to-date knowledge on tourism, but also to refine critical thinking and develop your key transferable skills. We work closely with local tourism stakeholders to ensure the Tourism degree benefits local societies.

There is no better city in which to study Tourism than Liverpool. Liverpool is an ideal place to study tourism as the city and the wider region host a number of the key tourist attractions in the UK. The legacy of Capital of Culture sees Liverpool’s continuing development of new arts, heritage, and cultural attractions, retail developments and luxury hotels. As a result, there is a need for highly qualified graduates in Tourism.

A Placement Year option is available for this course. Undertaking a placement year as part of your degree programme offers you the opportunity to gain valuable work experience alongside your studies.
