Study the science of how we think, feel and behave in social contexts, on a curriculum designed to immerse you in theories, methods and evidence-based research within the field, while allowing you to explore the historical and philosophical background of social psychology.
Access our state-of-the-art psychology facilities, including a six-room virtual reality suite and two observation laboratories, to delve into the science of how we think about ourselves and other people, and how we influence and relate to one another.
Learn from lecturers who are active researchers in individual differences, emotions, prejudice and discrimination, social communication and much more.

What you will study

You’ll explore topics such as prejudice and discrimination, moral judgement and emotions. You’ll examine how individuals and groups interact to construct and maintain identities, and the links between psychology and social change, families and relationships.

We’ll provide you with an in-depth understanding of contemporary approaches and the skills required to conduct research in the field, through cutting-edge methods and techniques. We’ll also give you an insight into qualitative and quantitative research methods, including the use of statistical software, ensuring you have a solid foundation to collect, analyse and interpret data.

This prestigious £5,000 award recognises academic excellence and is awarded to selected students starting a masters degree in September 2025.

About

The scholarship is awarded as a £5,000 fee waiver. It is open to self-funded international fee-paying students regardless of nationality or domicile. The scheme is application based and awards are decided by a scholarship awards panel.

Eligibility criteria

In order to be eligible applicants must:

Be an overseas fee-paying student
Hold an offer to study a full time masters programme (excludes part-time, distance-learning courses, MSc Pharmaceutical Sciences and the MBA)
Be self-funded (you must be paying for your studies independently rather than being sponsored or in receipt of another scholarship)
Not be from the Surrey International Study Centre (SISC)
This award is not available for MSc Pharmaceutical Science applicants.

Applicants in receipt of the International Excellence Award will not be eligible for the alumni discount as the value of this award is higher.

Applications will be reviewed monthly starting in November 2024. You must have an offer from the University to complete the scholarship application form. Applications without a valid student ID and offer will not be assessed.
