Program Overview

Studying psychology alongside the legal topics required for a qualifying law degree gives you a unique perspective of juvenile, civil and criminal justice systems. Understanding of the criminal personality could inform crime prevention and punishment, while behavioural psychology can shed insight on common social issues that lead to law-breaking, such as violence or substance abuse.

As well as being a ‘stepping stone’ to a future career as a solicitor or barrister, this degree develops practical competencies valued by employers outside the legal profession: research and diagnostic skills, an analytical mind, ability to listen, form sound arguments, read and quickly process complex information.

Studying two different subjects simultaneously provides a broader education. You’ll learn how these two complementary fields overlap and interact with each other, which can ultimately expand your career options on graduation.
