On this four-year LLB degree, alongside core Law modules you can study French, German, Spanish or Chinese and can spend a year abroad studying in a country that speaks that language.
At Bangor University, we bring the study of law to life. Take part in mock trials, internal moots in English and Welsh, visit law firms, judicial institutions, and government institutions. You'll also have the chance to hear from practising lawyers, legal experts, and specialist law firms. Extra-curricular activities from our active student-run Law Society include the popular ‘LawSoc balls’ and trips to law fairs.
Our Modern Languages staff have expertise in translation, film, literature, travel writing, performance, visual cultures, popular culture, socio-political change and transnational cultures. A degree in law and Modern Languages helps to develop practical competencies including research skills, an analytical mind, the ability to listen, form sound arguments, read and quickly process complex information.
This course not only meets the academic requirements for qualification as a barrister (Bar Standards Board compliant), but also provides essential knowledge for aspiring solicitors. Amongst an attractive array of modules, you can also choose vocational subjects tested in the Solicitors’ Qualifying Examinations (SQE) - such as Business Law, Wills and Estates, and Property Practice - providing you with a gateway to professional training to become a solicitor.
This Law with Modern Language LLB programme benefits from Bar Council of India recognition. Similar recognition can also be requested from professional bodies in other jurisdictions, like Canada and Nigeria.

Careers
A Bangor Law degree opens up exciting career paths in law and in many other rewarding areas where you can make a difference to people's lives and the planet.
Throughout your studies you’ll acquire the academic knowledge and be introduced to the skills needed to pursue a legal career should you wish to go on to qualify as a solicitor or barrister. You may wish to work in the public sector as a government lawyer, or in the private sector, specialising in commercial law, immigration law or criminal law.
If you don’t want to practise as a solicitor or barrister, you may still wish to work in an area where your legal training and knowledge would be advantageous and where you can work to make a positive difference. Many non-governmental organisations (charities) require people with legal backgrounds to work as policy officers, campaigners and advice workers. International organisations, such as the United Nations offer tremendous opportunities to those who are looking for an international career.
