Program Overview

You’ll graduate with a degree which not only meets the academic requirements for qualification as a barrister (Bar Standards Board compliant), but also provides essential knowledge for aspiring solicitors. Amongst an attractive array of modules, you can choose vocational subjects tested in the Solicitors’ Qualifying Examinations (SQE) - such as Business Law, Wills and Estates, and Property Practice - providing you with a gateway to professional training to become a solicitor.

At Bangor University, we bring the study of law to life. You can participate in mock trials, internal moots in English and Welsh and benefit from visits to law firms, judicial institutions, and government. They'll be opportunities to hear from practising lawyers, legal experts, and specialist law firms and the University hosts an annual careers fair.

Studying Law and History simultaneously not only helps you to better understand modern-day law, but also provides a broader education, which can expand your career options on graduation too.

On this Law degree, the wide choice of history modules enables you to gain a greater insight into everyday life, leadership, war, and other concerns during historical periods ranging from the Middle Ages to contemporary Britain and Europe. If you have a particular interest in Welsh history, there are options to focus on the impact of historic events ranging from the Second World War to the miners’ strikes and devolution.
