Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management (Co-op Optional)

Program Overview

The Human Resources Management 12-month graduate certificate program integrates business theory and practical application to highlight the importance of HR as a strategic partner in any organization. As a graduate of this program with a semester of real-world work experience, you'll be prepared for a variety of exciting positions such as a human resources generalist or co-ordinator, recruiter, compensation analyst, or learning and development co-ordinator.

As a student in the Human Resources Management 12-month graduate certificate program, you’ll benefit from the insider knowledge of experienced HR professionals. You'll learn all about what an HR department does and what it takes to be a real pro in the workplace—including managing employee and labour relations, promoting diversity, and creating HR policies and programs. You'll also get to see what it’s actually like working in HR through a field placement, gaining valuable experience along the way to help you meet all the program's learning goals.

Here are some skills you’ll be able to show off after completion of the Human Resources Management program:

  • Facilitating employee training and development
  • Ensuring health and safety in the workplace
  • Recruiting and hiring employees
  • Recommending strategic change initiatives
  • Developing a total rewards system

For those students who wish to pursue the Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP), all applicable courses in the B408 program are HRPA approved. The courses prepare students to write the National Knowledge Exam offered by the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA). Refer to hrpa.ca for requirements and additional information on this designation.
