Program Overview

As the largest professional group within the healthcare workforce, nurses have a pivotal role in providing, leading and coordinating care. Nurses work within a multidisciplinary team, across a range of health and social care environments, supporting service-users to make informed decisions about their holistic healthcare requirements.

The Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) programme is consistently ranked at the top of the University league tables: for 2024 Nursing at Glasgow is ranked 1st in the UK in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, 2nd in the UK in the Complete University Guide and 2nd in the UK for General Nursing in the Guardian University Guide.

The four-year BN (Hons) honours programme aims to prepare graduate nurses to deliver person-centred care for people with complex healthcare requirements across a range of environments. On meeting programme requirements, graduates’ may be eligible to apply to the Nursing and Midwifery Council for professional registration as an Adult Nurse.

The BN (Hons) programme aims to provide a supportive learning environment, admitting approximately 50 to 60 students each year. Grounded in life sciences, nursing, research and evidence-based practice, the courses are enriched by subject specialists and clinical experts who contribute to the delivery of sessions throughout the programme.
