Our new MSc Intelligent Transport Systems provides you with a comprehensive understanding of how transport systems, sensor technologies, data analytics and research are combined to reshape infrastructure and transform vehicles.
The world is currently being radically altered by autonomous, connected and intelligent systems that are able to learn, adapt, take decisions and act independently of humans. Climate change, increasing incomes, urbanisation, poor air quality, a large number of traffic fatalities and an ageing population are all affecting the world we live in, and hence the context that the transport system operates in. Our Intelligent Transport Systems MSc gives you the knowledge to make an impact and transform the industry.
You will be taught to use state-of-the-art tools and methods to collect, analyse, represent and apply this new abundance of data to the transport system effectively and efficiently. This will involve gaining the ability to design, test, and implement new systems to manage the operation of transport and integrate this with the wider built environment. On completion of the degree, you will be able to utilise tools and methods in evaluating the impacts of emerging technologies on transport system performance in terms of the level of service, capacity, safety, air quality, and economics.

Careers
As a new MSc program, we do not have any graduates yet. However, previous students within our School have gone on to work for a variety of recognised transport organisations nationally and internationally.
We have strong industry links with companies such as Atkins, Galliford Try, Highways England, and WSP, to name a few. Many of these firms engage with us in both collaborative research and delivering guest lectures. This provides an ideal opportunity for you to discuss potential employment opportunities.
