Certificate in Horticultural Production

Program Overview

Horticulture is a diverse field that supplies a variety of products and services, along with a large portion of our aesthetic enrichment and diet to the community. The Horticultural Production certificate program is designed to meet the growing need for trained people in the horticulture industry. The students are taught the science and art of food production with practical field production lab experience as well as greenhouse training.

Why choose Horticultural Production?

  • You’ll get your hands dirty with exposure to greenhouse and field production. Focus is on production horticulture (fruits and vegetables, greenhouse, nursery and ornamentals) with an emphasis on food safety and security, innovation and sustainability, as well as a strong applied research component.
  • Training combined with co-operative work experience results in grads with strong technical skills in production horticulture and business basics.
  • Your training allows you to work in rural or urban settings, with opportunities in government, the private sector, education and industry. Jobs are available in greenhouses and nurseries, food production and processing, applied research, public parks and landscaping. Many grads also begin their careers as owners and operators.
