The Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) awarded to graduates is, first and foremost, a qualification to teach in England. Many other countries will recognise it but, if your plan is to teach overseas, we recommend you contact the relevant authorities in your country of choice beforehand to check your eligibility
How you will learn:

  • As well as your subject specialism, you will explore all the National Curriculum Core and Foundation Subjects, alongside religious education, on this degree.
  • You will examine learning across the curriculum, the interrelationship of these areas of knowledge, and how the Foundation and Core Curriculum subjects fit together.
  • You will also study modules to hone your expertise and effectiveness as a teacher – learning how to manage a classroom, how planning and preparation contribute to the effectiveness of your teaching, how best to work with parents and other adults, and how to understand childhood behaviour.
  • You will be taught by staff with extensive teaching experience in schools themselves. Many have also worked in local authorities or subject associations as advisory teachers, Ofsted inspectors or consultants. It means our teaching is firmly based on the realities of the classroom and the current education system. Many staff also work at the cutting edge of research in teacher education, so you’ll have access to some of the latest ideas in the field.
  • Your placements at our large range of partner schools across London and southern England will offer you invaluable hands-on work experience, giving you confidence for your future career and a better understanding of how teaching works in practice.
  • Our subject rooms are set up to include the modern resources you will find in a primary classroom environment. You will get a real taster of what it is like in a school, and understand the way classrooms are structured, and the type of resources you are likely to need, to be able to teach confidently on a daily basis
