Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing (Co-op)

Program Overview

Become a marketing expert and help businesses grow. Douglas College’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing offers a combination of business and marketing courses, work experience with local businesses, hands-on skills with industry-specific software and the flexibility to enter the degree from multiple touch points. Whether you have just graduated high school, are currently attending Douglas or you already have some education at another post-secondary institution — you’ll be able to start, continue and finish your degree at Douglas College.

What is a marketing major like?
In your first two years, you’ll take core business and marketing courses that will give you a full picture of what a career in the marketing industry looks like. You’ll get to take courses in marketing research, promotional strategy, management essentials, buyer behaviour, a marketing practicum and more. Then in your final two years, you’ll choose an area of concentration.

In order to graduate from the program, you must complete BUSN 4500, the capstone course, which requires you to have 500 hours of Canadian work experience that is documented and signed off by your supervisor. Volunteer positions may be used to satisfy the work-experience component. Full details of BUSN 4500 are included in the Career and Portfolio Development Handbook.

What kind of degree options are there for Marketing?
Douglas is the only post-secondary institution in Western Canada to offer not only a Digital Marketing concentration but the flexibility to choose from four undergraduate degree concentrations. In your final two years, you’ll specialize your education with options in: Digital Marketing Communications Management, Hospitality Marketing, Professional Selling and Sales Management, and Trades Marketing.
