Program Overview
The Visual Arts Program available at Camosun College deals with a number of fields such as graphic design, ceramics, sculpture, performance art, animation, photography, drawing, painting, printmaking, video and film. It is a two year diploma program where students are given academic education as well as hands on practical experience in studios and with interactions with other professional visual artists.
Students have professional artists with real world experience as their teachers at college who can guide them at every possible step. The teachers help students with communication skills, an open mind, a critical thinking and ability to experiment. During the first year of the course, students are given basic knowledge about exploration and design and are given an opportunity to explore their creative thinking. The second year delves deeper into exploration and design, with particular emphasis directed towards contemporary concepts and media, and you are also obligated to establish an in-depth program of personal research.
