• According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of anthropologists and archeologists is projected to grow 19% from 2012-22.
• Cultural anthropologists work with people to understand how culture, power, and history are used for different purposes.
• Archaeologists excavate sites to recover the material culture or artifacts to understand the past and how it relates to the present-day.
• Biological anthropologists study human biological evolution, variation in growth and development, and adaptation to past and present environments.

International Scholarships

First-Year International Scholarships

All accepted first-year international applicants are guaranteed $7,500 in scholarships (Empire + Green). 

Additionally, International students will be automatically considered for our Gold + Empire awards and/or recommendation to our Honors program. On-campus residency is required. Scholarships are merit-based and not applicable for athletes.

Transfer International Scholarships

Brockport also awards transfer scholarships designed for students who come to Brockport after completing a minimum of 24 college credits at another College or University. These awards are competitive and reviewed following a student’s admission to Brockport.

$3,000 International Transfer Award

Amount/ Range

• Green Scholarships = $2,500, for a total of $6,500 (renewable for four years)
• Gold Scholarship = $4,500, for a total of $8,500 (renewable for four years)
• Honors (Prometheus) Scholarship = $6,000, for a total of $10,000 (renewable for four years)

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.
