Program Overview
Our world is getting smaller, and it’s important to understand the implications of being a global citizen. Global studies majors at The University of Toledo design their own programs of study and explore international issues from a variety of perspectives.
Students focus on what interests them and take courses across academic disciplines. They specialize in one geographic area and on an international topic, such as the environment, security and peace, multicultural communication and many others.
UToledo global studies majors have the chance to live and study with people from other cultures. Toledo is a diverse city. UToledo brings students and professors from across the world to its urban campus.
Highlights
- Follow your passions. Advisers help tailor your global studies program to your interests. Choose courses from UToledo’s comprehensive catalog in many academic areas. Specialize in a specific region of the world or in a global topic that intrigues you.
- Study abroad. The majority of UToledo global studies majors study for at least one semester in another country. Students have traveled to the United Kingdom, Peru, the Netherlands and Germany.
- A multicultural city and university. UToledo global studies students study and live with people from a host of other cultures on campus. Toledo is a diverse city of immigrants. The University of Toledo attracts students, professors, artists and scholars from all over the world. The International House residence hall is a unique living and learning environment.
- Sponsored undergraduate summer research. UToledo global studies students receive stipends and are mentored by faculty.
