The Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) will give you a thorough grounding in clinical, developmental, biological, cognitive, and social and organisational psychology. This degree will enable you to work towards a career as a psychologist, as well as other psychology-related fields in the health sector and beyond.
You'll learn how to use interpersonal skills and the principles of counselling to help people with personal, health, vocational and social difficulties. You will also learn how to apply psychological theories to topics such as thinking and perceiving, motivation, stress, health and group behaviour; evaluate and understand tests that measure intellectual, behavioural and emotional states; and use counselling skills, coaching and group facilitation skills, and behaviour change skills.
You'll learn from practising experts undertaking groundbreaking research in our Centre for Mental Health, paving the way for diverse and rewarding career opportunities. Our researchers are addressing key issues such as youth mental health, parenting and family interventions.
From classroom to clinic

Honours
Honours is available for high-achieving students as a fourth year of study within this degree. To be eligible for progression to the fourth year of the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), you'll need to achieve the required level of academic performance in the earlier years of the degree. Honours study includes a research project and core courses. You'll have formal research training and be introduced to professional psychological practice.

You'll be prepared for work in areas such as mental health, community, educational, organisational, or forensic settings; job placement and recruitment; career counselling and guidance; and social research. You can also pursue further study to work in specialist fields, including clinical psychology, organisational psychology and more.
Psychology graduates are employed in a wide range of occupations and industries, including in human resource management, aged care services, the police service and defence forces, marketing and market research, welfare and community services, children's services and family support, correctional services, and mental health services.
You may find work as a substance abuse and addiction counsellor, workforce and performance manager, disability support worker, community corrections officer or child safety officer.

The Gold Coast Student Grants program offers a $1,000 grant to help new international students settle into their new life on the Gold Coast. This grant can be used for textbooks, accommodation, or everyday expenses, easing the financial pressure of starting their journey in Australia.

*Please note that this grant is only available to the first 250 eligible international students. Domestic students, international students already enrolled at an Australian institution, and those currently residing in Australia are not eligible.
Students who have completed their studies in Australia can apply for a Post Study Work Permit or a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) to continue working in Australia post the completion of their study programs. As an international student, one can apply for the visa but not later than six months after completing your course. But to be eligible, you must meet the Australian Study Requirements, which include a minimum of 16 months of stay in Australia and a completing 92 weeks of a course registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
