Program Overview

This is a dynamic department—with students studying human relationships, analyzing film and television, creating films, practicing public relations, writing for the student newspaper, and instructing others in communication.

Our students pursue degrees in communication studies or media arts with emphases in media studies or media production. We also have minors in communication studies, public relations, and digital journalism, as well as a teaching certificate in communication. Additionally, we have a Master of Arts in Communication.

Our professors and instructors include published authors, filmmakers, sought-after speakers, respected leaders, and award-winning educators. They love to teach and are constantly looking for ways to make the learning environment the best possible for our students.

The mission of the Department of Communication & Media is to develop students who are effective and ethical communicators with the creative, critical, and collaborative skills necessary to succeed in a diverse global environment.

The focus of the program is to enhance students' knowledge and practical skills in various areas of human communication including organizational leadership, public relations, and relational communication.
