Program Overview

The Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Manitoba offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. graduate degrees in Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Both programs consist of course and lab research work. In addition to training students with the skills required in medical research, the Department also places a strong emphasis on developing students' oral communication and presentation skills.

Successful applicants are provided financial support for their first year and are encouraged to compete for independent funding for subsequent years of study. Students in our Department have received funding from government agencies such as CIHR, NSERC and MHRC as well as private organisations such as the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba and the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
