Program Overview

The new Engineering and Information Technology Complex (EITC) has some of the best teaching facilities at the University of Manitoba, with state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories. It features a large central atrium with a Tim Horton’s outlet, a popular gathering place for students.

The Department of Civil Engineering offers programs of coursework and research leading to the Master of Science, Master of Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy in:

  • Environmental engineering
  • Geotechnical engineering
  • Structural engineering
  • Transportation engineering
  • Water resources engineering

The M.Eng. program is industrially-oriented and aimed at practicing engineers who wish to continue their studies on a broad basis. Applicants for the M.Sc. program will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Applicants with other qualifications may be accepted at the discretion of the Department Head and the Dean of Graduate Studies. The M.Sc. degree is attained through coursework and thesis. The Ph.D. program consists of coursework, original research, and thesis.
