Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Classical Literature and Civilisation

Program Overview

Explore the societies of ancient Greece, Rome and Egypt through a wide range of perspectives and literary genres, with our BA Classical Literature and Civilisation degree

Work with the plays, poems, and speeches that have come down to us from antiquity, and study the monuments, religion and mythology that make up classical civilisation. You may choose to learn Latin or Greek, continuing your study of either language from A Level onwards, or you may wish to focus your undergraduate studies entirely on literature and sources in English translations.

Our degree offers you an exciting opportunity to explore not only the classical civilisations of Greece and Rome, but also the culture of Egypt, as well as the legacies of the ancient past in the Byzantine Empire. You will have access to a range of learning resources including the Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology Museum and the Eton Myers Collection.
