Master of Fine Arts - Creative Writing

Program Overview

Since 2006, the University of Guelph has offered an innovative Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Program in Creative Writing, housed in the University of Guelph-Humber building in Toronto. The program is structured to nurture and support diverse voices and wide imaginaries. Our distinguished faculty and acclaimed graduates recognize the power of language to summon a different world. Defining characteristics include the plenary courses, the participation of a range of writers from Canada and abroad, class visits from professionals, and alliances with cultural organizations in the Toronto area.

Program required courses: three workshops, two reading-based plenary courses, an individual mentorship with a professional writer, and a book-length thesis project. Workshops: creative non-fiction, drama, fiction, and poetry. The Creative Writing MFA is a full-time program designed to facilitate completion within two years.
