Master of Science - Northern Studies

Program Overview

The interdisciplinary Northern Studies graduate program at Carleton underscores northern situations and social orders, and the strategies that are created to oversee them. Understudies can finish this program as a Master of Arts, Master of Science or as a Graduate Diploma. The program of Northern Studies is the combination of six academic units:

  • Department of Geography and Environmental studies
  • Department of Sociology and Anthropology
  • Department of Earth Sciences
  • Department of Biology
  • School of Public Policy and Administration
  • School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies

The majority of the projects are intended to give interdisciplinary preparing and involvement in Northern Studies and all understudies are required to start their examinations with a field course of around multi-week long. This is a private field course that will happen excessively a long way from Ottawa for every day driving. The initial field course is essential for the center courses that are basic to the degrees and confirmations. Understudies in the degree program are required to take a work position in Ottawa or the North, a second field course in northern Canada, and a complete assessment.
