Program Overview

This degree will develop your language skills and historical awareness. You'll deepen your understanding of cultures and societies in Europe and beyond.

We have a wide choice of optional modules. This means you can design your degree, choosing what interests you most.

In history we investigate past societies, from the ancient world through to the modern period, addressing political, social and cultural themes. The course will give you the analytical and practical skills you need for historical research and a successful future. You'll learn to exercise independent judgement, to be critical of accepted opinion and to present your arguments effectively.

The flexibility of the modern languages part of the degree means you have the option to study history with either one or two of these languages: Catalan, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. You can study Italian on this degree but only alongside a second language as well as history. Luxembourg Studies is available as an option from year two onwards, either on its own or with a second language and history
