Master’s of Science in Engineering Management degree from a University whose engineering education excellence is matched only by the high quality of its industry-oriented business program – UMass Lowell. Drawing on the strengths of each, the MSEM program prepares students for leadership roles in manufacturing, quality and production operations, product design and support, engineering services and civil infrastructure management. Applicants with technical and non-technical backgrounds can apply to the program.
Technical professionals learn business principles and practices, while those with current management background can deepen their understanding of technical areas such as product, process and operations as well as quality and reliability, infrastructure systems, and occupational health and safety. The program’s flexibility, offering both evening classes on campus and online options in all fall/spring/summer semesters, means working professionals can enhance their careers while positioning themselves for advancement or a new field.

Undergraduate students, scholarship offerings are listed on the UMass Lowell (UML) website. The majority of UML scholarship funding is in the form of new student merit based scholarships. Your eligibility for these scholarships is determined at the time you are accepted for admission through matriculation. There is no separate application.If you are eligible, you will receive a letter notifying you of your eligibility for a merit based scholarship along with your acceptance. For graduate programs, there may be fellowship/assistantship opportunities available for accepted graduate students. Scholarships are gift aid offered to students that does not need to be repaid. Most scholarships are awarded to students based on merit, financial need or both. Although not required for all scholarships, we recommend that all students fill out the FAFSA.
The specific amounts and number of scholarships offered to students are based on available funding each year. The University of Massachusetts Lowell does not use applications for the selection of most merit scholarships.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
