The Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences, Major in Integrated Health Studies (IHS) is an innovative collaboration of the research and educational expertise in the health sciences across multiple programs, departments, and colleges at UIC. The primary goal of the degree program is to offer a diverse, interdisciplinary curriculum that includes relevant core content spanning the life sciences, natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
Students graduating with the Major in Integrated Health Studies in either the Behavioral Health Concentration or the Health and Science Concentration will have a comprehensive understanding of how human health and disease are impacted by culture, social and economic forces, the environment, and personal behavior, as well as an appreciation for health issues that are unique to rural, urban, and global contexts.

Academic Merit Scholarship For 2025 Early Decision
Early decisions = higher scholarships! Undergraduate students who apply to one or more participating universities for Summer or Fall 2025 may be eligible to apply for an exclusive Academic Merit Scholarship, of up to $30,000*! This limited-time Early Decision scholarship will award a small number of high-value scholarships to outstanding students who apply and confirm their place by February 2025.
Shorelight awarded more than $13.5 million in scholarships to international students in 2024. Make sure your students take advantage of opportunities this year – send in applications by January 15th to be considered for the next round of funding.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):
