Program Overview

More than ever before, professionals in the communication field need intercultural sensitivity, international awareness and the ability to transcend borders and interpret the communications of other cultures.

This 36 credit Global Media and Communication Studies (M.A.) program is completed over four semesters plus one summer. It requires an overseas internship, and a final thesis or a project demonstrating excellence.

This program is designed to prepare you to become a government, NGO or business spokesperson. It is also an excellent fit for students anticipating a career as a foreign news reporter or commentator, a webmaster or content manager for an international firm; a cross-cultural communication specialist; a public relations specialist; or a career in public diplomacy.

Learning Outcomes

  • The Global Media and Communication studies students develop and demonstrate competency in the following areas:

  • Demonstrate abilities to assess, use, and interpret information
  • Develop basic knowledge of at least one world language other than English.
