Master of Public Health - Industrial Hygiene

Program Overview

The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree is designed to be an interdisciplinary, professional degree in public health. The MPH Program provides opportunities for students to obtain broad knowledge and basic skills in the core areas of public health. Students are able to acquire proficiency in one or more specialized areas through advanced coursework, and gain experience in applying advanced knowledge to the solution of actual health problems in community settings during internship training.

The program is designed to be a two year program for full-time students. Part-time students can take up to 6 years to complete the program.

MPH Environmental & Occupational Health - Industrial Hygiene

The industrial hygiene track focuses on worker protection. The Master of Public Health - Industrial Hygiene (IH) track is ABET accredited and requires 45 credit hours to complete. Students interested in admission are required to have completed at least one semester of organic chemistry and physics, in addition to the MPH biology requirement. Contact us if you have any questions about these requirements. Students can make up deficient coursework during their first year in the program.

Industrial Hygiene is the science and art devoted to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, presentation, and control of those environmental factors or stresses arising in or from the workplace which may cause sickness, impaired health and well-being, or significant discomfort among workers or among citizens of the community.
