If you thrill when the houselights dim and the curtain opens, then a career in the world of theatre is for you. Get the broad-based skills necessary to find professional work on and off the stage. Students earning a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts receive a broad-based education of the theatrical arts. Students learn to appreciate the relationship of dramatic text to theatrical production; understand the working practices and standards of the professional theatre; communicate artistic intent through acting, directing, design and research; and learn how to organize resources to facilitate the theatrical production process. Coursework stresses critical thinking in verbal and written communication; employs theatre as a lens through which to examine cultural trends; encourages students to develop projects that merge theory and practical applications; and explores the vitality of theatre as a communal expression of gender and cultural diversity.
