Outcomes and Career Outlook

Upon completion of the Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, graduates will be proficient in organic and physical chemistry. Graduates of the BS in Chemistry will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of at least four of the five foundational areas of chemistry (analytical, organic, inorganic, physical and biochemistry).

• Graduates will be able to apply appropriate concepts, investigative and quantitative methods in all sub-disciplines of chemistry research; critically evaluate existing scientific studies to test specific hypotheses addressing unsolved problems in the chemical and life sciences; use computers and required scientific software in data acquisition, processing, presentation or analyses, including statistical and regression analysis; and demonstrate basic skills associated with safely performing and properly documenting laboratory experiments in chemistry.
• Graduates will be able to demonstrate the ability to work either independently or as a part of a small team; identify and procure information from relevant scientific literature, using proper citations and critically evaluate the accuracy, validity, authenticity and timeliness of data and facts without bias or favor. They will be able to effectively communicate about chemical sciences processes and the results of scientific investigations; and follow ethical practices in research, interpreting experimental findings and in presentation about and application of that research.

These opportunities are exclusively available to F-1 International Students and are contingent upon maintaining legal F-1 status and satisfactory academic progress.

Graduate Scholarship - If you do not receive a Graduate Assistantship, you will automatically be considered for this scholarship, with no separate application required. Our scholarships provide a significant reduction in tuition costs, helping you focus on achieving your academic goals. These opportunities are exclusively available to F-1 International Students and are contingent upon maintaining legal F-1 status and satisfactory academic progress.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.
