NYFA’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Degree in Photography provides students with a thorough grounding in the fields of commercial, fine art, fashion, and documentary photography. Throughout the program, students take a series of academically rigorous classes in photography to challenge them creatively, as well as liberal arts courses to provide students with a well-rounded education.
Students’ creativity is carefully and constantly nurtured as they are encouraged to find and develop their own unique visual language and vocabulary through a process of investigation, critique, creative conceptualizing, self-reflection, and practice.
Students who pursue a BFA in photography at NYFA Los Angeles are challenged to be their best creative selves by their peers and instructors. This program intends to equip students with creative and technical, as well as business skills that can help them pursue their path in this exciting field.
The first two semesters of the BFA Photography program are foundational, technical and historical. During semesters three through eight, students have the freedom to choose classes best suited for them. Through this approach, the BFA program offers a curriculum that enables NYFA students to explore their preferred photographic style, which includes:
