In the 21st century, software-centric systems are everywhere. From embedded systems (smart phones, automobiles) to healthcare systems to financial systems, software is a central feature of all the systems that society today depends upon.
To design, develop and maintain increasingly complex software-centric systems, the world needs engineers who are strongly rooted in the fundamentals of engineering and science and have the knowledge to engineer software systems that are not only safe and secure, but also meet the needs of the marketplace.
The four-year degree program composing 141-credit hours provides students with a rigorous general engineering undergraduate education with depth in both software engineering and systems engineering.
Students enrolled in the program are taught to analyze, architect, design and develop software as the fundamental component that allows complex systems to function with intelligence, efficiency and resilience. Furthermore, students have the opportunity to get a degree in software engineering with concentration in strategic domains such as: financial systems, healthcare systems, cybersecurity and sustainable energy. They are also encouraged to participate in co-op, internships and research opportunities with leading companies.

Stevens awards several merit scholarships every year to our most outstanding students. You are automatically considered for Stevens merit scholarships when you are admitted; no additional application is needed.
Merit scholarships range between $5,000 and full tuition (scholarships may not exceed the cost of tuition). If you receive a Stevens merit scholarship, it may be renewed every year, for a total of eight full-time undergraduate semesters, as long as you meet all of the renewal requirements.
Global Scholarship
Stevens grants a limited number of Global Scholarships each year to international students for exceptional academic merit. International students who wish to be considered for institutional scholarship must submit the CSS PROFILE on the College Board website. We will notify you if you receive a Global Scholarship. This scholarship is renewable for eight full-time undergraduate semesters as long as you meet satisfactory academic progress.
Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):
