In an interconnected and data-driven world, modern society relies on increasingly complex systems. Industrial and systems engineering is about improving the efficiency and effectiveness of these systems to solve relevant, real-world problems.
Today, engineers with strong roots in engineering and science and data analysis acumen are needed to improve technology and processes in enterprises. The Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in industrial and systems engineering (ISE) program at Stevens prepares you with cross-disciplinary, "big picture" systems perspectives and knowledge to engineer, develop and maintain complex systems in multiple industries including manufacturing, aerospace, healthcare, transportation, energy, finance, entertainment, service and more
In the ISE program, you’ll learn how to design, manage and implement solutions to improve quality, performance and efficiency. You'll develop a skillset to learn how to do things better at the enterprise level such as how increase customer satisfaction, improve efficiencies, decrease costs and reduce waste in enterprise operations. By the time they complete their ISE graduate degree program, students will be well-positioned to drive entire organizations toward success, making them invaluable technical leaders in industry and government with the application-driven toolkit enabling them to seek and implement solutions to enterprise system challenges.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):
