Bachelor of Arts in Psychology

Program Overview

William Jessup University’s Psychology program provides students with the opportunity to study human behavior and relationships from a Christian Worldview. The program prepares students for graduate school, as well as providing students with a solid foundation for a wide range of vocational careers, including human service work, social work, and ministry.

The program equips individuals with critical thinking skills that are scripturally based and methods that are culturally relevant and clinically sound. For some, the major will provide foundational studies in preparation for graduate school in the helping professions. Graduates who seek advanced education typically choose advanced studies in psychology, counseling, or social work. Others will apply this degree to work within mental health settings immediately after graduation and/or utilize the relational skills gained in this program in a wide range of careers, including business, human services, and ministry.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Critically analyze and engage with historical, contemporary, and enduring questions of the human experience.
  • Understand fundamental concepts and methodologies in the humanities, the sciences and mathematics/statistics, and the social sciences; apply these methods to the analysis of complex problems.
  • Discover and analyze primary and secondary sources relevant to specific research questions in particular academic disciplines.
  • Recognize and respond to social justice issues, locally and globally; enact ethics-based approaches in study and work.
  • Write well and present information clearly for specific audiences in appropriate forms and media.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply intercultural knowledge and competence by meaningfully and ethically engaging others.
