At Northeastern, a business education integrates the theory and practice of management through active learning, problem-driven research, corporate partnerships, and experiential assignments. As part of the degree program, all students are expected to participate in the co-op program, where they participate in paid work placements related to their field of study.
As your first year draws to a close, you’ll take an important professional step and declare a concentration in at least one of our principal fields of business. A concentration in international business will prepare you for a career within the global economy. You’ll learn how cultural, economic, technological, and political forces shape businesses around the world and how these forces impact international business operations. Your coursework will cover variety of key international business concepts, ranging from strategic planning in the global arena to managing behavior and interpersonal relations.
From a job placement perspective, few firms today operate or compete exclusively in domestic markets. A concentration in international business prepares you with a foundation in international trade theory, national trade policies, foreign market analysis, managing technological issues, and international strategic management. Possessing a knowledge of how people, firms, and institutions interact across borders provides international business concentrators with a competitive edge.
