What You’ll Learn
The Biology, B.S. with a Molecular Biology concentration allows you to undertake cutting-edge independent research with our faculty scientists, and gain real-world experience through internships at leading facilities such as Pfizer, MIT, New York-Presbyterian, and more.
The degree includes a core curriculum in humanities and research principles and practices, followed by coursework in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, cell biology, evolutionary biology, general and organic chemistry, physics, and calculus.
With the concentration in Molecular Biology, you’ll choose from electives in areas such as virology, genetic engineering, immunology, pharmacology, and more, allowing you to prepare for a career in biotechnology, genetics, biomedical research, and more.
You'll get critical experience through internships at metropolitan area hospitals such as Columbia University Medical Center and New York-Presbyterian Hospital and pharmaceutical companies like Advanced Biotech, Boheringer Ingleheim, and Pfizer.

Career Options
Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
